Manchester United travel to Selhurst Park for an early Sunday kick off versus Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils have played Palace 68 times in their history.

United have won 41 games and drawn 14.

The Eagles have come out on top the other 13 times, nonetheless.

Here are three storylines to whet the appetite for the Sunday lunchtime clash.

Rotten record in London

The Red Devils have not enjoyed trips to the nation’s capital lately.

The BBC reports that, “Manchester United have won just three of their last 26 Premier League away games against London sides”, drawing seven and losing a whopping 16.

What’s more, “all three of those victories coming against Fulham. Since the start of this run in April 2023, no side have lost more away games in the capital than the Red Devils.”

United drew with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month and have also tied with Fulham in August. Nonetheless, they were on the familiar losing end against Brentford in September.

The record will have to end soon, so United fans will hope that time will come on Sunday.

Palace recent domination

Historically, United certainly have the bragging rights in this fixture but that has not been the case in recent years.

Ruben Amorim’s side have managed just three victories in the last ten league and cup matches between the two teams.

The last victories came in 2023 when United beat Palace in the league and Carabao Cup at Old Trafford.

Last season they drew 0-0 at Selhurst Park and lost 0-2 at Old Trafford.

In fact, United have not won at Palace’s ground since July 2020 in the pandemic affected season, running out 2-0 winners through goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

United will need their shooting boots on

Last time out, the Red Devils were incredibly wasteful in front of goal in their 0-1 loss to Everton.

United will need to be more concentrated against a mean Palace defence.

The BBC states that “only league leaders Arsenal (6) have conceded fewer goals than Crystal Palace (9) in the Premier League this season.”

What’s more, it’s the Eagles’ fewest goals conceded 12 games into a league season since 1981-82.
