Cuca blames referee as Neymar misses Flamengo v Santos through ban

Santos will be without Neymar for Sunday’s clash with Flamengo, after the forward collected his third yellow card. According to Coluna Do Fla, coach Cuca has blamed referee Savio Pereira Sampaio for the caution that rules him out.

The booking, his third of the competition, was shown in the ninth round and brings an automatic suspension for the next match.

Cuca argued Neymar had been nudged from behind by opponents and that, in the heat of the game, the referee could have managed the situation without a card.

He called it a pity to lose the forward, stressing Neymar’s importance and noting two quick moments in which he created clear chances for team-mates.

Flamengo face Santos on Sunday at 17:30, Brasília time, in the 10th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The match will be shown on Rede Globo and on Premiere via pay-per-view.
