Cuca to promote 18-year-old Samuel Pierri to Santos senior squad | OneFootball

Cuca is set to promote another youngster, 18-year-old midfielder Samuel Pierri, to the Santos senior squad in the coming days, according to Globo.com.

The teenager has impressed the coaching staff and will be given a chance soon. He has no professional experience and will go through an adaptation period before featuring in official matches.

Pierri played one match in the Copinha and seven in the Brazilian under-20 championship. With Santos since under-13, he made 26 appearances last year for the under-17, then stepped up a category this season.

Former youth coach Vinicius Marques, now Cuca’s assistant with the senior squad, has been helping identify academy talent within the club.

Cuca is turning to internal solutions to address the team’s poor spell this season, despite signings having been made across the year.
