Cuco Ziganda is out at Cultural Leonesa after more than two months without a win in the league or Copa del Rey. It is not yet official, but the club informed him on Monday morning.
In their last outing at Leganés, Cultural led 0-1 at Butarque before retreating and taking only a point that left them in the relegation places. leonoticias reports that Ziganda’s record stands at nine wins, five draws and 11 defeats from 25 matches across both competitions.
He arrived in September to replace the dismissed Raúl Llona, the coach who delivered promotion from Primera Federación. A dreadful sequence, with only four points from the last 30 available, has precipitated his departure.
Cultural are three points from safety, a position held by Huesca under Jon Pérez, 'Bolo'. He has been criticised for overlooking the winter recruits, although those signings were apparently not requested by the Navarrese coach. Among supporters, frustration has been directed at both the touchline and the boardroom.
The club are now seeking fresh impetus from the bench to climb out of trouble, a task complicated by a demanding fixture list. Next up is the visit of UD Las Palmas, a candidate for promotion.
