Carlos Cuesta's loan at Vasco runs out on Monday, 5 January, but the club hold an option to extend it to 31 December 2026.
According to Globo.com, activating the extension costs 1.5 million euros, with a separate clause to buy his rights for 5.75 million euros, figures listed as R$ 9.7 million and R$ 36.6 million.
The Colombian centre-back joined on loan from Galatasaray in September and quickly became a regular under Fernando Diniz.
He ended the season with 17 appearances and one goal. Supporters criticised his display in the Copa do Brasil final second leg against Corinthians.
Vasco want to keep the 26-year-old, who has the coach's trust after four months of solid performances.
The club have not yet confirmed when the first-team squad will return. They open the Campeonato Carioca on 15 January against Maricá.
