Cuiabá have signed goalkeeper Gustavo Busatto, 35, for the remainder of their Série B campaign.
According to Globo.com, the former Caxias keeper had his registration published in the CBF’s BID, the Boletim Informativo Diário, before FIFA’s transfer ban on the club is due to take effect on Tuesday 25. That timing leaves him cleared to play in Série B.
Busatto has made 30 appearances this year, six for CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian league, 18 in Série C and six in the Copa Sul-Sudeste.
He left Caxias by mutual agreement after the 2-0 defeat to Santa Cruz on Saturday in Série C.
Cuiabá lost Marcelo Carné to a rupture of the right adductor tendon, and he will not play again in 2026. João Carlos has been starting, with Jean Carlos as his immediate back-up. Under-20 goalkeeper Pedro Mello had been training with the first team.
A Grêmio academy graduate, Busatto spent time on loan at ASA and Icasa. In Brazil he also played for América-RN, Atlético-GO, Aparecidense, Náutico, Sampaio Corrêa, Ituano and Caxias.
Abroad, he featured for Podbeskidzie in Poland before joining CSKA Sofia, where he played more than 200 games and won the Bulgarian Cup.
Cuiabá visit Botafogo-SP on Saturday 29 in the 25th round of Série B.
