Vasco have named new signing Cuiabano in their squad for the first time to face Santos on Thursday at 19:00. According to Globo.com, the left-back could make his debut in the fourth-round match at Vila Belmiro.

Thiago Mendes returns after missing Sunday's meeting with Fluminense due to muscle pain, and he has a chance to start.

Cuiabano was signed in early February but arrived short of peak fitness after spending January with Nottingham Forest's under-21s in England, where the intensity did not match the senior game.

Wearing 66, he is expected to begin on the bench, with Lucas Piton likely to start at left-back.

Centre-back Carlos Cuesta remains out with pain in his right knee. The Colombian has trained with the squad but is not yet fit enough to be included.

Following Fernando Diniz's dismissal at the weekend, permanent assistant Bruno Lazaroni will take interim charge until a new head coach is appointed.

Vasco have one point from three rounds and are still seeking a first win in the league.
