Cuiabano delivered two assists in Vasco’s 2-1 win over Grêmio, underlining his rise to prominence and his continuing knack for punishing his former club.

He initially celebrated the opener after his shot, but it was awarded to Thiago Mendes after a belly deflection, then he set up David for the second. According to Globo.com, members of Brazil’s coaching staff have recently watched Vasco to assess the 23-year-old, with any consideration aimed at the post-World Cup cycle rather than this year's tournament.

The left-back now has three goals and two assists in four games against Grêmio, the club that brought him through. He struck three times in three meetings for Botafogo in 2023 and 2024, then added two assists for Vasco this time.

Since Renato Gaúcho’s arrival, he has produced five direct goal involvements in four matches, one goal and four assists. He has emerged as a key figure for Vasco.

Cuiabano joined Vasco in January on loan from Nottingham Forest in England. After a quiet start while building fitness, he has enjoyed a sustained run in the side.
