While FC Bayern are working flat out to sign Ismael Saibari, the potential transfer could also have repercussions for other Bundesliga clubs. VfB Stuttgart are currently looking at a player who is being touted as a potential successor to Saibari in the Netherlands

As the Dutch portal Omroep Gelderland reports, the Swabians have set their sights on Kodai Sano from NEC Nijmegen. The 22-year-old midfielder is one of the most eye-catching players in the Eredivisie and could take the next step in his career in the summer

After a successful season that saw them qualify for the Champions League, VfB are working hard to strengthen their squad, with the club’s central midfield in particular being scouted

In Sano, the Swabians have apparently identified a player who could fit their requirements profile perfectly. The Japanese international

player impresses above all with his dynamism, his resistance to pressing and his ability to set the tone both defensively and offensively

Sano was one of NEC Nijmegen’s key players last season, scoring a total of eleven points in 39 competitive matches and attracting international attention in the process

Bayern transfer could trigger movement

The personnel issue is particularly interesting in connection with Ismael Saibari. The PSV star is known to be at the top of FC Bayern’s wish list

Should the record champions actually sign the Moroccan international, Eindhoven would have to look for a replacement. According to the report, Kodai Sano is one of the candidates on PSV’s list

Bayern and Stuttgart could therefore be indirectly involved in the same transfer process

A potential transfer is unlikely to be a foregone conclusion for the Swabians anyway. Sano was already linked with bigger clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam and Nottingham Forest last winter

At the time, NEC Nijmegen refused to release the midfielder, but after another strong season, the number of interested parties is now likely to be even greater

In addition to Stuttgart and PSV, other clubs could therefore enter the poker game.
