Cusco, Flamengo’s first group-stage opponents in the Libertadores, are without a head coach on the eve of their opener after Miguel Rondelli left for Melgar.

Globo.com reports that Rondelli had a contract at Cusco running to 2028, but Melgar paid his release clause to hire the Argentine coach.

He was among those who secured Cusco’s place in the Libertadores group phase. At Melgar, he cannot take charge immediately. Having already led Cusco in the Torneo Apertura, he will only coach in the Torneo Clausura.

Cusco are still searching for a new manager.

Cusco face Flamengo in Peru on eight April at 21:30 Brasília time in the first round of the Libertadores group stage.
