Danny Ward produced one of the biggest goalkeeping howlers of the year in action for Wales on Friday evening.

Wales knew a victory in their World Cup qualifying match against Czech Republic in Prague would give them a great chance of securing a playoff berth.

A loss, however, would give Czech Republic the advantage in the race to finish second in the group behind Belgium.

Wales took the lead through Aaron Ramsey after 36 minutes, only to be pegged back by Jakub Pesek's goal two minutes later.

Ward's catastrophic error then gave the hosts a 2-1 lead shortly after half-time.

Ramsey did well to win possession and he passed the ball back to Ward. The Juventus midfielder's pass was slightly overhit but the Leicester City goalkeeper should have controlled easily.

However, he suffered a lapse of concentration at the vital moment and he miscontrolled the ball, which rolled towards the goal.

Wales' number one got a foot to the ball before it crossed the line, but it hit the post, cannoned off him and then went into the net.

That is a shocker. To make a massive error in such a huge game must be heart wrenching for Ward.

Fortunately for him, Wales weren't behind for too long.

Neither side were able to find a winner and thus shared the spoils.

The two teams remain level in the group on eight points. Wales have a slight advantage, though, as they have a game in hand.
