Kortrijk and RWDM go into their penultimate games on Saturday afternoon knowing that their results could make or break their season. Kortrijk were able to grab a huge win over RWDM last weekend to keep their slim hopes of survival alive, which at the same time keeps RWDM well and truly in the relegation scrap.
Currently RWDM sit in the relegation play-off spot, three points off of OH Leuven ahead of them. If they can overtake Leuven and finish in 13th, they will be safe for another season. However, they are only two points above Eupen and Kortrijk who occupy the automatic relegation slots.
Kortrijk play first, at home to Antwerp who have only lost one in their previous five matches. If Kortrijk can pick up an unlikely win at home, they will leapfrog RWDM and put immense pressure on the side from Brussels. Isaak Davies and Abdelkahar Kadri will be key. Both scored against RWDM, with Kadri being the catalyst for the win.
Should Kortrijk win, RWDM will be under pressure when they host Anderlecht in a Brussels derby on Saturday evening. Anderlecht are the only team with five wins from their previous five and are eight points behind league leaders Union St Gilloise, so they certainly will be coming to try and extend their run. Should Kortrijk lose, and RWDM win, they will just need an Eupen defeat on Sunday to guarantee they will at least make the play-off and have a shot at survival that way.
Yet RWDM have no wins in their previous five, with two draws and three defeats. They have done poorly against sides around them which is what has cost them so far. Should they be relegated, John Textor will come under increasing pressure from a fanbase that has been far from happy with his decisions this year as club President.
Should both lose, Eupen will host Sint-Truiden on Sunday evening trying to score a first goal and a first win in six. This weekend will go a long way to deciding how much is on the line for the final match week of the regular season next weekend.
