According to L'Équipe, Bruno Irles relies on Croatian Dado Prso as a discreet, central lieutenant at Bordeaux. The N2 side visit Le Puy, in National, on Sunday at 17:30 in the Coupe de France 32es de finale.

Unfazed by the eight-hour coach journey, he used the trip to speak with the squad and draw on his past as a striker.

He is more vocal at work than with the media, whom he often avoids. Irles says he worries about being misinterpreted, particularly in his home country.

Their partnership began at Monaco in the late 1990s. Irles took the Bordeaux job in August 2024 after administrative relegation to N2.

As an agent, Prso opened the door to Sheriff Tiraspol in 2016 for Irles’s first head coach role. They reunited at Pau from 2019, Prso arriving weeks later to coach the forwards, with president Bernard Laporte-Fray praising his work with young players.

Former team-mate Jérémy Clément describes him as a unifying presence who commands attention in the dressing room.

Irles says his decision to come to Bordeaux was made with Prso, given the division. At Troyes in January to November 2022 he was not officially assistant but stayed alongside him, and at QRM from 2020 to January 2022 he was already a hidden assistant.

Irles sees them as a duo rather than a hierarchy, often understanding each other without words. They are looking beyond the top of their N2 group, which Bordeaux lead, though the road remains long.
