Manchester United will face off against Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday as they look to secure a win in their Premier League opener. The Red Devils suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of AC Milan in a pre-season game earlier this month, which has halted their momentum somewhat going into this clash.

Michael Carrick will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first-team for this game. Both Diogo Dalot and Bryan Mbeumo could get a chance to impress from the start of this contest.

Defence

Senne Lammens will feature in goal for the Red Devils after conceding four goals in his last pre-season outing. Harry Maguire will function alongside Ayden Heaven at the heart of the Man United backline as they look to keep a good shape on the defensive end of the field.

Diogo Dalot will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Luke Shaw hopes to shine on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans will anchor the midfield for the Mancunian club as they try to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Patrick Dorgu, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo will operate just ahead of them as part of Carrick’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if Man United want to secure all three points at the MKM this weekend.

Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Bryan Mbeumo will lead the line for the Mancunian club in the final third. He has to find a way to be a constant menace up top.

Benjamin Sesko is unlikely to recover in time for this game. However, Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if required.
