Damián Ayude has left his role as San Lorenzo head coach after talks with Sergio Constantino before Tuesday morning training. The interim hierarchy ended his spell following the heavy blow suffered against Defensa y Justicia at the Nuevo Gasómetro in the 11th round of the Apertura of the Liga Profesional.
According to SuperDepor.com, the board acted after 11 rounds in which Ayude alternated systems and personnel without stopping a run that pushed San Lorenzo out of the qualification places.
His record across 29 matches was nine wins, 11 draws and nine defeats.
After the match, Ayude made clear he had no plan to resign, yet the interim leadership notified him of his immediate removal. The unilateral decision obliges the club to meet the compensation set out in his current contract.
The picture is complicated by a recent renewal. On three February the same leadership extended his deal to December, at around 50,000 dollars per month.
With 10 months still to run, the payout is estimated at roughly half a million dollars. The timing highlights a contradiction, the project ratified in February then halted only weeks later, and attention now turns to finding a successor.
