Rangers have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Dan Neil, who has joined the club on a three-year contract following the expiry of his Sunderland deal.

The 24-year-old arrives at Ibrox after an impressive campaign that saw him help Ipswich Town secure promotion to the Premier League during a productive loan spell in the second half of last season.

A product of Sunderland's Academy of Light, Neil made more than 200 senior appearances for his boyhood club and captained the Black Cats to promotion through the 2024/25 Championship play-offs, lifting the trophy after victory over Sheffield United at Wembley.

The midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Southampton after becoming a free agent, but Rangers moved quickly to secure his signature instead.

Neil becomes the Scottish club's latest summer addition as they continue to reshape the squad ahead of the new campaign. His arrival follows the signings of Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey and Ivor Pandur, adding further depth and Championship-winning experience to Rangers' midfield options.
