Dani Ceballos is set to rejoin Real Betis on a free transfer, with an agreement in place for a contract running to June 2029.

According to Superdeporte, the move was agreed in the frantic closing hours, and Betis must still create room to register him, with Pablo García close to Racing Santander.

The deal covers three seasons on a progressively structured salary, lower in the first year then rising in the next two, with performance-related incentives added.

Betis have pursued his return since he became a free agent after leaving Real Madrid in June by mutual consent, a departure in which he forgave around six million euros net. He spent seven seasons in Madrid’s first team, winning 16 trophies, and has prioritised a return to Heliópolis despite other options.

Further outgoings are key. Iker Losada has four options, Girona, Almería, AZ and Jagiellonia, with his exit seen as central to freeing a slot before a deadline now less than four hours away. Álvaro Fidalgo also has a proposal from Celta, which could proceed if Ilaix Moriba departs.

Nine years after leaving for Real Madrid, the Betis academy graduate is on the brink of a comeback, aged 30.
