Dani Hypólito says Flamengo are a rare case of a football club excelling across Olympic sports. 'Flamengo’s Olympic programme has always been very strong. Flamengo are one of the few football clubs that keep an Olympic set-up as good and as successful as our football,' she told Pro Sports TV.

'It is rare to see that at other clubs, in gymnastics, swimming, judo and basketball. When football has struggled the Olympic sports have made up for it. So Flamengo fans always have someone to cheer for.'

Born on 8 September 1984 in Santo André, Daniele Hypólito, the 'Pequena Notável', represented Flamengo. She was Brazil’s first World Championships medallist with floor silver in 2001 and competed at the 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Flamengo’s gymnasts are thriving. Gabi Bouças and Júlia Coutinho combined for six medals at the Santa Fé 2026 South American Games.

Lorrane, Rebeca Andrade and Flávia Saraiva contested the World Championships in Hungary, with Saraiva winning two golds for Brazil.

In judo, Marcelo Gomes won two South American Games golds, in the up to 90kg class and the mixed team event. Rowing, Flamengo’s founding sport from 1895, sent 11 athletes to the same Games and reached 13 podiums, 4 golds, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes. The club anthem’s nod to land and sea still reflects that multi-sport identity.
