Dani Parejo could join LaLiga’s top five appearance makers on Friday, if Marcelino García Toral uses him at Alavés in Mendizorroza. Even a minute would take him to 550, level with Raúl González Blanco in fifth place.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Coslada-born midfielder turns 37 next month and is in his sixth Villarreal season. He has 549 top flight games across 19 seasons, debuting for Real Madrid Castilla in 2027/08.
His LaLiga tally covers Real Madrid, Getafe, Valencia and Villarreal, with 5, 64, 282 and 198 outings. Raúl’s 550 were overtaken for fourth this season by Antoine Griezmann, and all indications are that Parejo will also surpass him.
Parejo began this season ninth on 526 after moving past Manolo Sanchís, who has 523. With 23 appearances he has overtaken Sergio Ramos on 536, Paco Buyo on 542 and Eusebio Sacristán on 543.
The leaders are Andoni Zubizarreta and Joaquín Sánchez on 622, with Raúl García third on 609.
Across six Villarreal campaigns he has been pivotal to the Europa League win in 2021 and the Champions League semi-final run in 2022.
For Villarreal alone, Parejo is tenth in Liga appearances with 198, 21 shy of Rodolfo Martín Arruabarrena and 24 behind Rubén Gracia Cani on 222. Gerard Moreno has 227, one behind Sergio Asenjo’s 228. The club’s top five are Santi Cazorla 251, Marcos Senna 258, Bruno Soriano 288, Mario Gaspar 308 and Manu Trigueros 330.
