Daniel Farke has indicated that no business will be done before Leeds United visit Liverpool on Thursday 1st January, a stance that appears to cool talk of a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“I want to play. I’m not ready to call it quits by any means. I don’t feel old. I’ve still got that hunger to play and do well. I just want the opportunity to show what I can still do,” he told The Athletic this week.

Farke was not directly asked about Oxlade-Chamberlain, but when quizzed on January funds he said the current group would stay together for the next four games and that nothing would happen before the Liverpool match, adding his focus was on maximising this squad and then seeing what is possible in January.

The transfer window opens on that Thursday, so arrivals before then are off the table unless the club moves for a free agent. Free transfers can be completed inside or outside a window.

Leeds have been linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain since he left Besiktas by mutual consent in August and became a free agent. He remains without a club, and Farke’s timeline suggests Leeds are unlikely to pursue the 32-year-old.
