Leeds return to Premier League duty at the City Ground on Saturday, and Daniel Farke has issued his first injury update. Willy Gnonto and Gabi Gudmundsson will miss the Nottingham Forest trip, with Nico Elvedi available.
According to Leedsunited.news, Farke said Gnonto is sidelined by a hamstring problem and he hopes to have the forward back for the next game. He added that Gudmundsson is also out, while all other players are available.
The meeting with Oliver Glasner’s new side is the first of two in quick succession, with the clubs also paired in the Carabao Cup second round. Leeds are expected to return to Yorkshire before visiting Forest again.
Pre-season signs point to Farke sticking with a three-five-two, and Gudmundsson’s absence could open the door for James Justin on the left.
In midfield Farke has a call to make, with Sean Longstaff the standout over the summer and Anton Stach difficult to leave out. Captain Ethan Ampadu will start.
Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin hopes for a stronger opening than last year after arriving then without a pre-season. Wilson is expected to operate deeper, as against Man United and Liverpool, with Noah Okafor and Brenden Aaronson likely competing to partner Calvert-Lewin, Aaronson perhaps the favourite.
