Daniel Farke said he has no plans to sell Illan Meslier in January, though situations could change if a player asks to leave. The Leeds United manager spoke on Tuesday as his side prepare to visit Sunderland on Sunday 28 December.

Leeds are unbeaten in four. Lucas Perri has the gloves with Karl Darlow on the bench, leaving Meslier without a minute this season. TEAMtalk has reported that Celtic want Meslier and that he is open to a move to Glasgow.

Farke stressed that every squad member remains in his thoughts and that he rates Meslier highly. He called the Frenchman a goalkeeper full of potential who has amassed notable experience at Championship and Premier League level.

He added that injuries and illnesses affecting recent matchday squads mean Leeds need all their goalkeepers, so there is no plan to change the group. He reiterated there is no proactive wish to alter the department in January.

With Meslier’s contract expiring at the end of the campaign, questions about a January decision are inevitable. For now, Farke is content to keep his options intact as Leeds head to Wearside.
