Daniel Farke has been shortlisted for April’s Premier League Manager of the Month after Leeds United’s surge towards safety.

Leeds recorded consecutive league wins for the first time this season, beating Manchester United and Wolves, then drew 2-2 at Bournemouth. The 2-1 success at Old Trafford was their first league victory there since 1981 and seven points from nine lifted them to 40. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke makes a seven-man shortlist and voting closes at 12pm on Monday, May 4.

He is joined by West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo and Nottingham Forest’s Vitor Pereira, who also collected seven points from three matches. Also nominated are Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Liverpool’s Arne Slot, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler.

Leeds forward Noah Okafor is nominated for April’s Player of the Month after scoring both goals at Old Trafford, then a goal and an assist in the 3-0 win over Wolves. A double for the club remains possible.

Farke said the group have shown desire in recent games and want to continue respectfully, staying focused with 12 points still available. He added that one more win could ease the pressure and make the finale less fraught.

Leeds host Burnley on Friday night, when victory would take them to 43 points, a tally that has never resulted in relegation from a 20-team Premier League. Burnley arrive with interim manager Mike Jackson after Scott Parker’s exit, and were relegated following last week’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, having won four league games.
