Leeds United’s push to land a £36.5 million striker is waning, with Man United forward Joshua Zirkzee now the subject of Roma talks that are closing in on a loan-to-buy agreement, according to Il Messaggero.
Daniel Farke has been open about adding firepower after Leeds failed with a late move for Harry Wilson in the summer window.
Several alternatives have been assessed, including Roma forward Artem Dovbyk, while Zirkzee caught the eye with an important cameo in the recent draw between the sides.
Initial indications had the fee at more than £30 million, with an asking price of €50 million mentioned. The current proposal is a high-interest loan of about €5 million with a €30 million option that would become mandatory if Roma qualify for the Champions League.
While Zirkzee heading to the Italian capital would be a blow for Leeds, it could allow them to press ahead with Dovbyk in January.
