Daniel Farke has offered support to injured loanee Mateo Joseph and will revisit the striker’s future at a later date.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 22-year-old sustained an ACL injury last month and faces several months out.
Joseph has spent the campaign with La Liga side Mallorca, starting 19 league matches and making 10 further appearances from the bench. He scored two goals and supplied four assists, including the decisive pass in a famous win over Real Madrid in the final game before he was hurt.
Having made clear he did not want to take part in Leeds’ pre-season tours, including the training camp in Germany, he asked to return to Spain. The head coach had previously disagreed with that stance.
For now, Farke is concentrating on Leeds’ current group and objectives, and does not intend to discuss loan players, signings or recruitment. He plans to address matters in detail once the FA Cup and Premier League campaigns are over and the club have achieved what they are targeting. He has offered Joseph best wishes, stressing the need for a thorough rehabilitation, with the parent and loan clubs maintaining a good working relationship.
