Daniel Farke wants further additions before the window closes, with gaps still to fill before Leeds United face Nottingham Forest later this month.

According to Leeds Live, Leeds have already brought in centre-back Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo for around £34 million and free-agent winger Harry Wilson after his Fulham exit.

James Trafford is on his way from Manchester City to take the number one shirt, a £40 million deal that underlines the 49ers ownership’s ambition. Cover could be needed with Lucas Perri tipped for a move to Torino, and free agent Orjan Nyland has been mentioned after a strong World Cup with Norway.

After multiple rejected offers, Leeds have lodged a final bid for Southampton’s £30 million-rated midfielder Shea Charles, although the Saints are digging in. Manager Tonda Eckert said: “I think it’s more than clear that there’s interest. I’m happy to have him around at the very moment.”

If that move stalls, Inter Milan’s Petar Sucic, 22, has been linked after an excellent debut season in Italy, making 54 appearances including the Champions League. He may cost a similar fee, but his experience could justify it.

A left-back and another centre-back are also on the list. Jacques Ekomie of Angers is an option with his deal up next summer, and he could provide real competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Experienced free agents could bolster the middle, including Diogo Leite, 27, after leaving Union Berlin, and Adam Webster, 31, who is seeking a restart following his Brighton departure.

Up front, a new striker would help. Liam Delap is being touted after a nightmare first season at Chelsea, but a fee of up to £40 million would not represent value, while Levante striker Carlos Espi, 21, has a reported £21.4 million release clause.

If Farke can land several of these targets, Leeds would have a solid platform to build on last season’s 14th-place finish.
