Daniel Farke says Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back from illness but Anton Stach and Pascal Struijk are unlikely to feature when Leeds United visit Birmingham City in the FA Cup on Sunday. He cautioned that no player with doubts will be risked, with league survival taking precedence.
As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke delivered the update at his Friday press conference.
All three missed Tuesday night’s Premier League trip to Chelsea, Stach and Struijk with hip problems and Calvert-Lewin through illness. Stach suffered his issue before last Friday’s 3-1 home win over Nottingham Forest, after which Struijk also reported a hip concern. Farke had hoped on Monday the no 9 might make it, but he did not make the squad.
Farke said there were no new injuries after Stamford Bridge and that everyone available then should also be available at St Andrew’s. Late calls will be taken on players’ workloads.
Sebastiaan Bornauw, substituted 10 minutes into the second half with ice on his ankle after a collision with Karl Darlow for Chelsea’s second goal, has only a bruise and the pair should be available.
Earlier in the week he suggested Stach would probably be back for next weekend’s Premier League match at Aston Villa. January signing and Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte is eligible and not cup tied.
