“Yeah, definitely. I think Stu [Dallas] obviously spent a very long time here, absolutely loved it. It's something that I would absolutely love to do as well, I think.”

He said on the Official Leeds United podcast. “So much [can change]. It definitely feels like home, but it's down to me to go and perform on the pitch.”

This season he has made four Premier League starts and has neither a goal nor an assist, amid injuries and a shift away from traditional wingers.

His only start this calendar year was the 3-0 FA Cup fifth-round win at Norwich City in March. An adductor strain then ruled him out for all of April, with two brief league cameos either side totalling nine minutes.

James signed a four-year contract last summer after helping Daniel Farke’s side to a 100-point Championship title, producing 12 goals and nine assists in 36 games. That followed 20 direct contributions in 2023/24.

Leeds have all but secured their top-flight status and could strengthen their attack this summer, yet James is not agitating to leave. “I want to go and influence games and ultimately that will help.”
