The 22-year-old striker's goal record has been debated ahead of another temporary exit from Bournemouth

Blackburn Rovers look set to try and strengthen their attacking options this summer, with the Championship club reportedly closing in on a loan deal for AFC Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison.

According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Rovers are working on a move that would include an option to buy, despite a recent TEAMtalk report also crediting Burnley, Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Norwich City with monitoring the 22‑year‑old’s situation.

The Canada international spent the 25/26 season on loan at Lancashire rivals Preston North End, making 40 appearances across all competitions and chipping in with six goals.

Given Blackburn managed just 42 league goals themselves last campaign - the second‑fewest in the Championship - it’s hardly surprising that a new number nine is high on the agenda at Ewood Park.

After spending much of last season fighting relegation, Blackburn have already started their rebuild with the permanent signing of Moussa Baradji for around £2m, having activated the buy option following the midfielder's own initial loan spell.

It remains to be seen how much said 'option' would be in Jebbison's case.

FLW’s Blackburn Fan Pundit, Simon Middlehurst, is positive about the idea of Jebbison signing for Rovers, even if he admits the striker’s goal record doesn’t exactly stand out.

"Yeah, I think it'll be a good signing, because it's another body in the door," Middlehurst said.

"Is it a real concern (Jebbison's goalscoring record)? Not really, he's still young, he's still only 22 and got bags of experience in the English game already.

"Obviously, Preston, previously gone on loan to Watford, played in the Prem [Premier League] with Bournemouth, played for Sheffield United."

On the goals front, his best return in a single season came during a loan spell at Burton Albion in 21/22, where he scored nine across all competitions.

Since then, he hasn’t managed to hit that tally again in any season. Before heading out on loan to Preston, he scored two goals in 29 games for Sheffield United, three in 21 for Bournemouth, and none in 13 during his time at Watford.

Considering the Cherries - who paid Sheffield United a £1.5m training fee to sign him two years ago - are seemingly ready to move the striker on, it's fairly obvious Jebbison's immediate future lies away from the Premier League.

Middlehurst added, "So, goalscoring record might not be the best, but experience wise, he has got plenty of it. Definitely another body in the door and hopefully, you know, Tony Mowbray does have a way of getting people to score goals.

It seems plenty of other Rovers fans share Middlehurst’s view as well...

How Blackburn Rovers fans feel about Daniel Jebbison transfer

Taking to social media to express their own opinions on the potential Jebbison deal, one Rovers fan mentioned the ex-Lilywhite would be ‘the replacement for Gueye and Leonard’.

Another said he isn't 'mad' about the potential deal, and there’s a shared feeling among the fanbase that any more prolific striker would simply cost the Venkys too much.

One supporter even joked that the buy offer on the table would be 'three Mars Bars.'

Blackburn's potential striker options ahead of next season have been described as 'not bad'.

Like what Middlehurst thinks, Tony Mowbray has been name-dropped as the man to 'get a tune' out of Jebbison.
