According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo won their Carioca semi-final first leg against Madureira on Sunday, yet the crowd booed, prompting Danilo to address the reaction.
Supporters had voiced frustration even before kick-off, a response to recent form that included a 1-0 first-leg defeat to Lanús in the Recopa Sudamericana.
Flamengo struggled in the opening period and were jeered again at half-time, then pulled clear after the break to win 3-0.
Danilo said most players have lived with this level of scrutiny, not only at Flamengo, and urged the team to stay intelligent and clear-headed on the pitch. He acknowledged supporters want urgency and goals, and stressed that those who pay and push the team have the right to demand.
He added it is on the players to manage games correctly, with defensive vigilance and secure attacking, and said he has absolute confidence Thursday can be an important night for the team.
Despite a smaller than usual crowd against Madureira, more than 50,000 tickets have been sold for Thursday 26, when Flamengo face Lanús in the Recopa Sudamericana second leg at the Maracanã, 21:30 Brasília time, with Danilo available.
