Danilo of Flamengo discussed Neymar's recovery as Brazil look towards the 2026 World Cup, urging realism rather than hypotheticals. According to Coluna Do Fla, he spoke on Wednesday 17 in a news conference.

He said the squad must deal with reality, hoping the No 10 is physically well, recovers and can contribute, even for 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, adding that Neymar's quality has long been proven.

Neymar suffered a grade two calf injury on 17 May in Santos v Coritiba in the Brasileirão. He remains with Brazil's medical department as he continues treatment.

He will remain sidelined for Brazil's meeting with Haiti. A new exam on Monday 15 showed advanced progress, but staff are determined not to skip steps in his recovery.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti said last Friday 12 at MetLife Stadium, on the eve of Brazil v Morocco, that Neymar is working hard to be fit and the expectation is he could be with the group next week. He added that call-ups reflect unquestionable quality and experience that can help younger players.

Brazil face Haiti on Friday 19 in the second round of the World Cup group stage, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
