Danilo has spoken about life after playing as he weighs up his Flamengo future.

"I am thinking about it, about my future. Maybe continuing in football, because I am already used to this adrenaline. Maybe as an assistant coach, sporting director, staying in this environment and living football a little more, because it has given me a lot and I feel I need to give back," he told The Athletic.

"But I also need to do other things with more purpose, you know? To help the people around me and contribute to improving society. I really like communication. I would also like to be a writer," Danilo said.

The defender is under contract with Flamengo until the end of the campaign, and has yet to choose between staying, leaving or calling time on his career.

"I see it this way, Danilo is prepared for life beyond the pitch. If he is interested, he will be a great director. I believe he will be a great director," club president Bap said, speaking to FlamengoTV in March.

For now, he remains focused on the season’s main objective, winning the World Cup with Brazil. Carlo Ancelotti’s side open against Morocco in Boston on Saturday 13 at 19:00 Brasília time.
