Darío Herrera to referee River v Boca Superclásico at the Monumental

Darío Herrera will take charge of Sunday’s Superclásico between River Plate and Boca Juniors at the Monumental, in round 15 of the Torneo Apertura 2026.

The Liga Profesional de Fútbol confirmed Juan Pablo Belatti and Pablo González as assistants, Juan Pafundi as fourth official, with Hector Paletta on VAR and Sebastián Habib as AVAR.

Herrera returns to oversee the fixture. Boca have played 41 official matches under him, with 21 wins, 11 draws and nine defeats.

In Superclásicos with Herrera in charge, Boca have three wins and two draws from six meetings, with River winning once.

His most recent River-Boca was in 2023, when Boca lost 1-0 to a Miguel Borja goal from a non-existent penalty.

Equi Fernández, Miguel Merentiel and Nicolás Valentini were sent off, as was then coach Jorge Almirón. Herrera was stood down after the match for poor officiating.
