The Canaries are in fine form under the Belgian at this moment in time

Former Norwich City midfielder Darren Huckerby has issued a cheeky message regarding the Canaries' 'chances' of promotion this season as their fine form under Philippe Clement continued with a 3-0 success over Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.

After returning to winning ways with a solid 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon, the Belgian's side made it back-to-back wins through Mo Toure's stunning performance and hat-trick against Matt Bloomfield's relegation-threatened outfit.

The Canaries moved up to 16th in the Championship table as a result, leapfrogging Sheffield United on goal difference after accumulating 39 points from 32 games, albeit their fixture against the U's was originally scheduled for this coming weekend, meaning City have now played one game more than several of their divisional counterparts.

However, that isn't to take away from how much Clement has been able to transform the Yellows' form since he replaced Liam Manning in mid-November, with Norwich then residing in the bottom three and very much staring at the prospect of a first relegation to League One since they started their back-to-back promotion rise under Paul Lambert back in 2010.

City are currently the form team in the division when stretching back 10 matches, with a narrow 1-0 defeat to league leaders, Middlesbrough, the only recent blot on their copybook, despite putting in a credible performance against Kim Hellberg's side in the process.

Norwich have now moved seven points clear of the relegation zone with 14 matches remaining, with some connected with the club now starting to dream of an ambitious late bid for the play-off places, as only eight points currently separate themselves and Wrexham in sixth position.

Clement and Norwich's 2026 has been near-perfect thus far, suffering just two defeats in all competitions to Middlesbrough and Stoke City, whilst the Canaries head coach has seen his first acquisitions in charge already make a difference at Carrow Road.

Hat-trick hero, Toure, only signed for the club on Deadline Day from Danish Superliga side, Randers, yet already has four goals to his name after backing up his debut goal against Blackburn with a remarkable display against Oxford on Tuesday night.

The eight-time Australian international had secured a brace after just 19 minutes, before completing his triple two minutes into the second period.

On Wednesday morning, Huckerby, who had won two Championship titles with Manchester City and the Canaries respectively during a strong playing career, took to X to issue a cheeky message to Norwich fans after their ninth win in 17 league outings under Clement's management.

"If Big Phil gets his finger out we can still make automatic Promotion!," the Norwich cult hero joked.

Huckerby's comments, of course, were posted with a clear hint of sarcasm, with Norwich still some 20 points behind another of his former clubs, Coventry City, who occupy second place at present.

However, the Norfolk outfit are certainly looking up under the former Rangers boss, who has been able to solidify his defence, as well as allowing City's attacking players to perform with a strong sense of fearlessness and confidence, even without the services of Jovon Makama and Josh Sargent.

Next up for Norwich is an FA Cup fourth round tie against West Bromwich Albion at Carrow Road.
