Darwin Núñez could return to European football this summer, with Besiktas negotiating a loan after he slipped down the pecking order at Al Hilal.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Uruguayan international is close to reaching an agreement on a season-long move for 2026/27.

Núñez left Liverpool last summer to join the Saudi club in a 55 million euros transfer. He scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Al Hilal, but his prominence diminished after the arrival of Karim Benzema in February.

Following that signing, he fell out of the team's plans for the Saudi league, opening the door to a departure. Besiktas have emerged as the leading candidate to secure his services.

Before moving to the Middle East, he excelled at Benfica from 2020 to 2022, scoring 48 goals in all competitions. That form led to his transfer to Liverpool.

Last season in the league he played 16 matches, 14 as a starter, averaging 78 minutes per game. He scored six times from an expected goals tally of 11.48, a return of one goal every 209 minutes.
