The days go by, and the return to the Spotify Camp Nou draws closer. FC Barcelona are counting down to play their home matches at their stadium on a permanent basis, although with a reduced capacity.

For now, the Catalans have obtained the first occupancy licence for phase 1A, which would allow a return to the stadium with around 26,000 spectators occupying the first two tiers of the Main Stand and the South Goal.

However, Barcelona wish wait to reopen the stadium until the City Council grants the phase 1B occupancy licence, which would authorise the use of the Main Stand, South Goal, and Lateral Stand, raising capacity to 45,401 spectators.

Barça played their recent home match against Girona at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic, and will again do so for this Tuesday’s fixture against Olympiacos.

Before the third international break, Hansi Flick’s side will also host Elche at home, although that match is also expected to be played at Montjuic.

Therefore, the most likely date for the return to the Spotify Camp Nou is immediately after the international window: the weekend of 22–23 November, when Barcelona face Athletic Club, reports SPORT.

La Liga announced this morning that Matchday 13 of the domestic league for Barcelona will take place on Saturday, 22 November at 16:15, against Athletic Club.

The venue has not yet been confirmed, but with a month to go, this could be the first match Barça play at the Spotify Camp Nou after more than two years away.

The Blaugrana administration has drawn its fair share of criticism for the continued delays in the Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment project, but the hope is that the return can finally take place next month, with 22 November being earmarked as the likely date.

Regardless of the venue, it will undoubtedly be one of the most intriguing fixtures of the season for Barça, as it will see Nico Williams face the club that could have become his team this summer.

The Athletic Club forward once again offered himself to Barcelona, but ended up backing out of the agreement, and the Catalans ultimately opted for Marcus Rashford on loan to strengthen their attack.
