Benfica have agreed an initial deal for 17-year-old Brazilian centre-back Davi Andrade Lima, valued at around one million euros after standout displays for Itaquaquecetuba Athletico Clube’s under-20s. He completed medical tests in Lisbon and signed preliminary terms, then returned to Brazil.

"Everyone dreams of becoming a professional. I did not imagine it would happen so soon, it has been my dream since childhood. Anyone who goes into football dreams of playing in Europe and mine is coming true earlier than I thought," he told TV Diário.

He shone at the Copa São Paulo de Juniores, where he registered two assists.

"I am very anxious. I want to play well in the year I will stay here. It is a dream to play in Portugal."

Despite the pre-contract, he will only be officially registered by Benfica in July 2027, when he turns 18, as required by international regulations.
