David Alaba has joined Udinese on a free, signing a contract until June 2027.

Released by Real Madrid after five seasons in Spain, the 34-year-old featured little in 2025-2026, playing 16 matches and 575 minutes in total, with a calf injury limiting his time.

He captained Austria at the 2026 World Cup, starting every game. They were knocked out in the round of 32 after a 0-3 defeat by Spain. He has 117 caps for his country.

The agreement ends an uncertain spell for Alaba, who had been without a club since early July.
