Manchester United have received a huge boost with David De Gea on the verge of prolonging his stay at the club.
The 27-year-old’s current contract comes to an end after next season but the club have an option to extend his deal by another year.
However, United would like to tie the goalkeeper down for even longer and it looks like they could do just that.
According to an exclusive by the Times, talks between the club and De Gea have gone well since the end of last year and the Spaniard is willing to put pen to paper.
A new deal would be worth over £220,000k-a-week (€250k) and go to 2021 at the very least.
De Gea has been a long-term target of Real Madrid’s and had hoped to join the Spanish champions back in 2015, only for a move to fall down on deadline day.
With Keylor Navas struggling for form this season, Madrid are likely to sign a goalkeeper in the summer but a move for Thibaut Courtois now looks more likely.
