David Ruiz has joined New York Red Bulls on loan from Inter Miami until the end of the 2026 season, with an option to buy. According to interheron.com, the Red Bulls will also send Inter Miami $75,000 in 2027 general allocation money.
Inter Miami are reshaping their squad, with homegrowns Noah Allen and Ruiz heading to new MLS homes to create space for incoming signings.
Ruiz entered the Inter Miami Academy in 2021, then featured for Inter Miami II across USL League One and MLS Next Pro, producing two assists in 22 appearances. He signed first-team terms in April 2023, later extended through 2029.
The midfielder logged more than 1,200 minutes for the 2023 Leagues Cup winners and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield holders, returning four goals and four assists. Three separate hamstring injuries have curtailed his minutes over the past two seasons. He also has 10 caps and three goals for Honduras.
Competition for midfield minutes in Miami is intense, with Casemiro, Rodrigo De Paul, Yannick Bright and Telasco Segovia among the options.
At the Red Bulls, Ruiz could slot into a rotation that includes Ronald Donkor, Adri Mehmeti and Emil Forsberg.
