The Portuguese federation’s Refereeing Council has appointed David Silva to take charge of Benfica v Estrela da Amadora on Sunday, a Liga Portugal Betclic fixture in round 19. João Malheiro Pinto will serve as VAR, with Pedro Felisberto as AVAR.

Silva will oversee Benfica’s second match of 2026 at Estádio da Luz. His assistants are Carlos Campos and Nelson Cunha, with José Rodrigues as fourth official.

The AF Porto official is set for his first Benfica fixture of the season. He handled the Benfica B v Porto B clássico in early January in the Segunda Liga, issuing nine yellow cards and awarding a penalty to Benfica B.

Elsewhere, Hélder Carvalho will officiate Arouca v Sporting on Saturday. António Nobre has been assigned to Porto v Gil Vicente, having dismissed Gianluca Prestianni in December’s derby with Sporting and awarded a contentious penalty against Arouca last season at Estádio da Luz.

Benfica sit third on 42 points, three behind Sporting and 10 adrift of Porto. With the title looking remote, second place, which leads to Champions League qualifying, appears the more realistic target for José Mourinho’s side.
