The Owls are returning to League One with a newfound optimism this summer under new ownership, with fresh ideas and a new identity at Hillsborough.

David Storch was hard at work from the off, eradicating the imposed 15-point deduction that was set to be placed upon them next season following the takeover and removing any doubts on their spending power for their first summer window in charge.

Following on, he hired board members in certain positions that former owner Dejphon Chansiri hadn't utilised throughout his decade in charge, such as new sporting director Simon Wilson. He, alongside CEO David Bruce, is ensuring that the club has a strong present, but also a prevalent future as well, both on and off the field.

And Storch was quick to praise Bruce following the reveal of the new home shirt for the 2026/27 campaign — the first in the Arise era.

One of the very few perks of the administrative process was the fact that Sheffield Wednesday were able to cancel what was described by the Sheffield Star as a "less-than-favourable deal" with kit supplier Macron, who had supplied shirts for the five seasons prior.

One of David Bruce's first tasks as CEO was to find a new one. The Owls wouldn't have been short of suitors, and in the end, Umbro was chosen. A much more popular decision, given the rich history that Wednesday has in its kits.

The new home shirt was revealed on Thursday (July 9), and featured the switch to the old Owl crest alongside the traditional blue and white stripes. It's safe to say it's gone down well with the fanbase, and the swiftness of the reveal has been praised by David Storch.

Wednesday's owner wrote on X, "Massive shout out to David Bruce and the team @umbro. Producing the @swfc home kit, product and design in less than 75 days!! World-class ingenuity and remarkable execution! Kudos galore! Thanks, team! #WAWAW"

It's safe to say that some Sheffield Wednesday fans are still taken aback by their new ownership, as it's still hard to realise that they seem to be in good hands for the first time in several years.

Hundreds of Owls fans gathered in the replies to heap praise upon Storch as well as reaffirm the good job that David Bruce is doing, too.

"It really is class, David. As you say, some don't realise the timescales and the logistics in all of this. DB doing a grand job #WAWAW," one fan wrote. "Dave Bruce is doing an amazing job and a credit to u all," another said.

Other fans simply thanked their new owner for the ride he and his fellow partners have already taken them on in the space of a couple of months, and they cannot wait for what the new season holds for them.

"Loving the new kits. You have brought pride back to our beloved club," a third fan stated, while a fourth added, "Thank you, David, for giving us hope again. You're doing our club very proud, loving everything you and backroom staff are doing WAWAW UTO."

The first home shirt of the new Arise era will go down as yet another early success. The optimism surrounding Hillsborough is palpable, and it was only stoked by a shirt that Wednesday fans can't wait to get their hands on.
