Sheffield Wednesday are flying high at the top of the League One table, but owner David Storch will not be watching the Owls in action for a while.

It has been an excellent start to the season for Sheffield Wednesday in League One, but new owner David Storch has revealed he will not be present at Hillsborough for a while.

Storch's Arise Capital Partners consortium completed their takeover of Wednesday in May to mark the start of a new era at the club after the nightmare end to former owner Dejphon Chansiri's tenure, and it has certainly been a busy start to their tenure.

Wednesday are set for a lengthy break from League One action following Saturday's game against Stockport, and it seems it may also be some time until Storch watches his team in person.

Storch has been present for a number of the Owls' matches this season, including the opening two games of the campaign against Leyton Orient and Bradford City, but the American took to social media to reveal he will be absent for a couple of months due to a medical procedure.

"Wednesdayites... one more push at Hillsborough on Saturday before we head into the international break!" Storch wrote on X.

"It's been such a positive start to the season, and I'm so proud of the work everyone across the club continues to put in. Lots accomplished in a very short period, but we know there is a long way to go and so much more work ahead.

"Saturday gives us an opportunity to finish this opening stretch on a high... another huge crowd, everyone together and giving the lads everything you have!

"Unfortunately, I won't be able to join you this weekend and for the next couple of months. I'm heading in for some back surgery and will need a little time to recover before I can make the trip back to Sheffield.

"I'll be there in spirit, and Michael will be there on Saturday representing the Storch family. I know he can't wait to get back to Hillsborough and spend time with our Wednesday family.

"Let's get behind the team and finish this first part of the season the right way. Keep pushing...keep believing... and most importantly enjoy the journey!

As they rebuilt their squad, Wednesday brought in no fewer than 18 new signings this summer, with Billy Mitchell, Callum Slattery, Barry Bannan, Louie Barry, Davis Keillor-Dunn, Harry Gray and Mason Burstow among the high-profile arrivals.

While the Owls' new-look side was expected to take time to gel, it has been a strong start to the season for Henrik Pedersen's men, who currently sit top of the League One table after picking up 13 points from their first six games.

However, Wednesday were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by struggling Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday, and they will be looking to return to winning ways when they host eighth-placed Stockport County this weekend in what is likely to be their last league game for three weeks.

The Owls have already seen their trip to Stevenage later this month postponed due to Boro's international call-ups, and with a number of their own squad preparing to represent their countries during the upcoming break, the clash against Cambridge United the following weekend is also expected to be rearranged.

After saving the club from administration, Storch has already earned himself fan favourite status among the Wednesday faithful, and they will no doubt wish him well in his recovery from his upcoming surgery.

Storch has made an impressive start to his tenure at Hillsborough, and it seems that the team he has assembled is more than capable of competing for promotion in League One this season, even if the Owls have had a relatively favourable start in terms of their early fixtures.

With games against the likes of Stockport and Huddersfield Town to come over the next few weeks, much more will be revealed about Wednesday's promotion credentials, and Storch will be watching closely during his absence to see how his side fare.
