A decision has been made regarding David Sullivan's attendance of West Ham's upcoming clash with Millwall

West Ham shareholder David Sullivan will not be in attendance for their upcoming clash against bitter rivals Millwall.

According to The Athletic, the EFL have informed the Lions that the 77-year-old will not be at the game this coming weekend.

This will be the first meeting between the two London clubs since a Championship clash at Upton Park on 4 February 2012.

The Hammers won the clash 2-1, with goals from Carlton Cole and Winston Reid helping Sam Allardyce’s side to all three points.

But Alex Neil’s team will now be going into the clash this weekend at the Den with confidence that they can get a result.

Millwall have not won against West Ham since their league meeting at the Den on 21 November 2004, where a Daniele Dichio goal earned a 1-0 victory.

It’s emerged that Sullivan will not be in attendance when West Ham make the short trip to the Den to take on Millwall this weekend.

The 77-year-old stepped down from the role of vice-chairman earlier this year amid allegations of misconduct.

In light of these allegations, the West Ham shareholder was also urged to avoid turning up at the London Stadium for home games, but this has not come to fruition.

He was pictured in the stands for the Hammers’ 2-1 loss to Charlton Athletic in August, but has not been seen in the weeks since.

The atmosphere for the clash between Millwall and the Irons is expected to be quite tense, with tempers often flaring when these two teams meet.

Given it will be their first fixture against each other in over 14 years, it is set to be an especially significant occasion.

Sullivan has recently increased his stake in West Ham from 38 per cent to 40 per cent amid a power struggle behind the scenes involving Daniel Kretinsky and Amanda Staveley.

West Ham fans have been quite vocal regarding their criticism of Sullivan during his time as an owner, and in particular in light of recent allegations against him.

Many supporters believe he shouldn’t be anywhere near any of West Ham’s games as a result.

However, some fans have claimed that it would only be right that he is sat with the home fans, where he would expect an unwelcome reception.

West Ham will face Millwall on 19 September in a 12.30pm kick-off.

However, in this instance it is the sensible decision for Sullivan to avoid going to the clash, and he should really stay away from the team for the foreseeable future.
