Davide Frattesi’s agent clears air over player’s future

Since the start of the summer, Davide Frattesi has been one of the players expected to leave Inter before the season begins.

After limited minutes under Christian Chivu last season, the 26-year-old has been widely considered to be on the chopping block. While he has been attracting interest from the Premier League, his priority is to remain in Italy.

Frattesi’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, recently spoke to Sky Italia on his client’s future amid links with Juventus. Nottingham Forest have also shown an interest in him in recent weeks.

“I still have to meet the Nerazzurri. As soon as I meet them, we’ll know: it’s a situation in progress, it has situations, but I have to talk to them first. “I don’t talk about these things [links with Juve] before talking to Inter: it doesn’t seem right to me. Then we’ll think about the future: he scores big goals and has a big heart, I’ll talk to Inter and then we’ll think about it.”

Frattesi has two more years remaining on his Inter contract, which fetches him a gross annual salary of €5.19 million.

The options at hand

Despite Luciano Spalletti wanting Frattesi, Juve chairman Giovanni Carnevali has recently stated publicly that the player is not on the top of his priorities and that the club can be considered out of contention for his signature.

Frattesi’s inclination towards remaining in Italy is understandable, but at 26 he does not have the luxury of waiting around too long hoping for someone from a very small pool of suitors to come and save him. He has veritable interest from overseas, and if this drags on into August, he would do very well to consider playing abroad for a few seasons for the sake of his career.
