Cremonese have dismissed Davide Nicola and named Marco Giampaolo as his replacement. The club announced the change on Tuesday.

Nicola, 53, joined at the start of the season, and has worked across 11 clubs in 15 years.

The side began positively then faded, and are winless in 15 Serie A matches. Their last victory came in mid-December, 2-0 against Lecce.

Cremonese are 18th, three points behind Lecce, the first team outside the relegation zone, so survival remains possible.

Giampaolo, 58, has been without a job since his spell at Lecce ended last summer, despite the club staying up in Serie A.
