According to Globo.com, Davizinho, 18, impressed in the Copa Sudamericana and, with Gabriel Menino injured and Igor Vinicius a doubt, is now favourite to start for Santos against Vasco.
Two weeks ago he featured as a forward in Santos’ under-20 Brasileirão semi-final exit to Vasco on penalties at São Januário.
He is under contract until 31 January 2029 with a release clause of 100 million euros, R$ 603 million. Davizinho joined Santos aged 15 after standing out for Rio de Janeiro club Boavista as a forward.
His early promise up front faded amid competition. Injuries to two right-backs in the under-17s then opened a run of games in a more defensive role.
That switch was well received and caught the eye of staff including Vinicius Marques, now an assistant with the first team, who first arrived to work in the academy and helped develop him as a wing-back and right-back.
