Kicker reports that Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Dawid Kownacki has attracted interest from Bundesliga as he will not extend his contract with the 2.Bundesliga club.
Union Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Mainz have shown interest in the 25-year-old. While FC Midtjylland have some interest in the striker as well. Kownacki joined Düsseldorf for €6.75 million from Sampdoria in Italy in 2020. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Lech Poznan in his homeland of Poland.
This season, the striker has scored 12 goals and assisted seven times in 24 games for Düsseldorf as they currently sit fifth in the 2. Bundesliga.
Gladbach are set to lose Marcus Thuram on a free transfer in the summer, which would mean they lack a number nine striker, which is a role Kownacki could fill in.
Mainz have suffered injuries to two of their main strikers in Jonathan Burkardt and Karim Onisiwo so a move for Kownacki would add depth to their striker options.
