Dayot Upamecano: still far from an agreement with Bayern

The saga surrounding Dayot Upamecano's contract extension at Bayern Munich is far from over. Despite rumors early this year of an imminent deal, the situation remains unclear.

The negotiations are stalling on two key issues: the length of the new contract—2030 or 2031—and when the €60 million release clause will take effect. Upamecano and his camp want it to be active starting in 2027, while Bayern would prefer to push it back to 2028.

After the 2-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, sporting director Max Eberl acknowledged the slow pace of talks: "We will announce it, whatever happens," he said, emphasizing that the club remains patient but alert. For now, the suspense continues: the French defender is still under contract with Bayern, but the timing of his future departure or extension remains uncertain.
