Tammy Abraham got the nod from minute one for AC Milan against Genoa last night and yet his evening lasted for just 45 minutes.
As Calciomercato.com recall, Abraham was the man entrusted with the starting centre-forward spot given that Alvaro Morata passed a late fitness test, Luka Jovic is injured and Francesco Camarda is just 16.
However, Paulo Fonseca decided to leave him in the dressing room at the end of the first half of the match, as Morata took his place up front. According to DAZN, a slight injury was behind Fonseca’s choice more so than the fact the Englishman had a quiet first half.
More specifically, there was a tough tackle that caused him to get a bruise and led to the inability to continue the match. The hope for Fonseca will be that the ex-Chelsea man could recover for the game on Friday away from home against Verona, which might be decisive for his future.
Abraham was in very good form, with four goals and two assists in his last six games across Serie A and Champions League action. Having arrived on loan from Roma in the final days of the summer transfer window, he is playing to prove he deserves a permanent stay.
